Averie McCauley, LCSW-BACS, served as President of LACSW from 2019 to 2021 and
currently chairs its Continuing Education Committee. She is the founder and clinical
director of Crescent City Psychotherapy and Wellness, a New Orleans-based group
practice.


With over two decades in the mental health field, Averie specializes in trauma treatment
using integrative somatic and Polyvagal-informed approaches. Her clinical work focuses
on medical trauma, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), and the complex intersection of
mental and physical health. Through advanced training with the Ehlers-Danlos Society&
ECHO programs, she is committed to providing knowledgeable, compassionate care to
individuals living with EDS and related conditions.


Averie earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Louisiana State University and
a Master of Social Work from Tulane University. She has pursued extensive postgraduate
training and is certified in EMDR and Brainspotting. She is an EMDRIA Approved
Consultant and Board Approved Clinical Supervisor (BACS), providing consultation and
training to clinicians seeking expertise in trauma-responsive care. In addition to her clinical and leadership roles, Averie is pursuing a PhD in Change Leadership, with research focused on expanding access to EDS-knowledgeable care and advancing systems that improve patient experiences and outcomes.
