Christian Specks, LCSW-BACS
Christian Specks is a dedicated Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Board-Approved Clinical Supervisor (LCSW-BACS) with a profound commitment to both clinical excellence and the advancement of social work education. Serving as an Assistant Professor of Social Work at the University of Louisiana Monroe, Christian bridges the gap between academic theory and real-world clinical application, helping shape the next generation of social work practitioners.
An advocate for rigorous, evidence-based inquiry, Christian is currently a PhD candidate at Walden University, where her doctoral research focuses on the transition experiences of students of color with neurodiverse conditions. Her work explores the impact of e-Coaching as a vital tool for enhancing self-advocacy skills during the critical transition to higher education. Throughout her career, she has consistently demonstrated a commitment to cultural competence and structural equity, notably leading the development of groundbreaking curricula, including coursework focused on Psychology and the Black Male. Her academic portfolio reflects her dedication to developing resources that address critical gaps in the literature.
In addition to her teaching and research, Christian maintains an active presence in the social work community, engaging in professional development and advocacy for clinical wellness. Her professional identity is rooted in the belief that social work education should be as dynamic as the populations it serves—constantly evolving to better understand and support the self-advocacy, identity, and mental well-being of marginalized groups. Through her multifaceted roles in the classroom, in research, and in supervision, Christian Specks remains a steadfast contributor to the professional growth of social workers and the students they serve.
