Dr. Cassandra D. Smith DSW, LCSW-BACS

Dr. Cassandra Smith is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Board Approved Clinical Social Worker who has been credentialed with the State of Louisiana since 2000. She received her Bachelor of Social Work Degree from The Whitney M. Young Jr. Clark Atlanta University School of Social Work, her Master of Social Work Degree from Tulane University and her Doctorate in Clinical Social Work from the Ivy League, University of Pennsylvania. During her 25 years of diverse practice experience, her developed specialty area is the treatment of high-risk children and their families. With close to 10 years of experience as a former school social worker and 25 years as a clinical therapist, she has a specific expertise in treating children who have experienced trauma and adverse childhood experiences. Dr. Smith received advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy while attending the internationally renowned Beck Institute in Philadelphia. She is also Nationally Certified Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Child Therapist. Her teaching and training experiences include an adjunct professorship at Southern University of New Orleans School of Social Work, as well as presentations and trainings for the National Association of Social Work (NASW) Louisiana State Conference and the NASW Continuing Education Yellow Book. She enjoys providing clinical staff training and staff supervision for agencies, as well as clinical and business consultation to Behavioral Health providers, non-profits, and schools across the State of Louisiana. Her research interests include Medicaid Behavioral Health policy and improving access to quality mental health services for vulnerable and disenfranchised populations.
