Dr. Lisa M. Wineburg, DSW, LCSW-BACS
Dr. Lisa M. Wineburg is a distinguished clinical practitioner, educator, researcher, and author with over 20 years of dedicated experience in the mental health field. Specializing in trauma-informed care and systemic mental health interventions, Dr. Wineburg is a transformative leader whose career is defined by a deep commitment to community healing, systemic advocacy, and empowering vulnerable populations. As a researcher and academic, Dr. Wineburg serves as an Adjunct Instructor at the Tulane School of Social Work, where she also earned her Doctor of Social Work (DSW) degree and received the prestigious Outstanding Student Award in 2023. Her doctoral research centers closely on the profound effects of repeated trauma exposure and collective trauma. A specialized focus of her work includes evaluating PTSD prevalence and resource efficacy for first responders—a field she knows intimately as a retired New Orleans Firefighter. Her academic contributions include published research on child abuse prevention and critical manuscripts exploring help-seeking behaviors, stigma, and fear among licensed social workers. Dr. Wineburg translates her extensive research into actionable community support through her dual leadership roles in the Greater New Orleans area. She is the founder of New Beginnings Behavioral Health Services, a clinical agency dedicated to providing quality mental health care, as well as The Butterfly Effect Trauma Response & Treatment Foundation. Founded in 2022, the nonprofit specializes in trauma-based mentorship programs, support groups, and rapid-response crisis care designed to mitigate the long-term impacts of acute trauma exposure. An accomplished author, Dr. Wineburg shares her insights and lived experiences in her best-selling book, Beyond the Scars: Navigating Personal Growth After Trauma, and its companion piece, Emerging Beyond the Scars: Your Daily Guide to Healing Trauma and Finding Strength. Through her writing, clinical practice, and teaching, she reframes resilience not as a static trait, but as a dynamic process that can be actively nurtured over time.
